Why Your Greatest Weakness Is not Being an Idealist?

Why Your Greatest Weakness Is not Being an Idealist?

Q: “So what would you say is your biggest weakness?”

A: “It would have to be that I’m too much of a perfectionist. I work really hard and I don’t feel satisfied until the job is done. ”

Wow.

For several years, job candidates have been wussing out of the “greatest weakness” interview query by answering that their greatest weakness is that they are too much of a perfectionist. Being a “perfectionist” is a worst answer.

Employers Are Not Stupid

Applicants seem to think employers are stupid. They seem to consider that they outsmarted the query by saying that their greatest weakness is that they are too hard workers.

But employers are not stupid and that answer is so overused that it is importantly its own joke. It is a bad, cliché answer that everyone uses and is never true.

Tips to Answer Weakness query

The best way to answer a greatest weakness query is to say a weakness that is really a weakness, but one that everyone can relate to. The key to answering these queries is to:

  • Say a weakness that is merely a small, barely significant weakness.
  • Follow up that weakness with what you’re doing to improve.

You are not outsmarting the employer by claiming you’re a perfectionist. If you actually need to impress the employer, you require coming up with a unique answer. Cliché answers are just going to harm your possibilities of getting the job.
