Do you know why we tend to ‘freak out’ when we are under much stress? Our brain turns over to an instinctive defense network and our body begins generating adrenaline. These switches override our generally logical thought procedure and the outcome is not pretty. The magic is to be prepared and stay calm.
There is a very great opportunity, you will be inquired the Behavioral Interview Query –
What has been the most stressful case you have ever discovered yourself in at work? How did you manage it?
Here we are confronted with some issues. When informing a story about being stressed, you need to:
- Ignore making a common case sound like it caused you stressed.
- Neglect sounding as though you could not manage the stress.
- Ignore over-describing what the stress was like.
You need to look like someone that manages pressure conveniently, which means you have to neglect saying “I was coming close to a target time and I felt as though I could not manage it” because you will be confronted with various target times. You do not need to tell stories about struggling with a leader, struggling with a client, or anything that may be a general part of the new post.
Rather than, concentrate on universally stressful scenarios, reduce how much you talk about the stress, and concentrate instead on what you did to resolute it.
Good Answer
“We were coming across a target time at COMPANY X, and our whole computer network crashed right before it was due. I called IT instantly and while they fixed it I went to get my personal laptop. I went back to work and began working on the final parts of the project that I could until IT fixed it at nearly 11pm. Finally I was capable to gather documents and I sent it in, nearly with an apology note and a discount on future tasks. I knew the case could have been a disaster, but IT actually saved the day, and from then on I began backing up projects more often online to ignore any last minute issues.”
Notice that with this kind of response, you did not even say you were stressed. Instead, you recognized a universally stressful condition (computer crashing) and concentrate merely on what you did to resolute it. You even thanked someone for their help, while still implying credit for staying up late to complete it.
You may not have had a response quite so perfect, but every post will have its universally stressful days. Share something the employer can recognize with, and come up with all of the ways you handle to resolve the condition, involving what you “did” in the future to ignore it.
