Sometimes it is what you bring to the interview that can make a huge difference. The following are 7 significant things to bring with you to any job interview:

  1. Directions to the Building – It might seem clear but if like several of us you depend on the GPS chances are you will not have the address printed out anywhere. Technology fails sometimes, so be prepared and make definite you also give yourself some spare time in case you get lost on the way.
  2. Copies of Your Resume – Always make definite you’ve copies of your resume on hand. Your employers might not have their own copies, and giving your resume to them before the interview starts will impress them and show you’re organized.
  3. Job Description – It is a great idea to take a copy of the job description with you, specifically for large businesses. It will give you the chance to go through it with the interviewer, and give a reference for you to understand what the employer is inquiring.
  4. Paper & Pencil – You should also bring a notepad of some kind to take notes throughout the job interview. You will need to write down names, the things you have talked about, and more. Make certain that you are keeping track of anything that you should remember for both the interview and the job.
  5. Work Instances – If you’ve any work instances on hand that you can demonstrate the employer, bring those as well. Not everyone will have these samples, but whether it is a portfolio or documents that relate to the job, demonstrating these work samples could help you remove any doubt about your capabilities.
  6. Queries to Ask – It is a good idea to make definite that queries happen organically. But that does not mean that you can’t bring a few questions that you had while researching the company. Consider jotting down a few queries to ask the employer in case to show them you are genuinely interested in the position.
  7. References – Ultimately, on most resumes candidates put “available upon request.” During the interview, you might get the request, and if you already have all of the information you need on hand you show the employer that you are truly prepared.

You should also keep in mind that there is one thing you should NOT bring: your cell phone. You can keep it with you in your pocket if you must, but it should be switched off to stop vibrations or ringing from interrupting the interview.
